It’s been too long…

Patricia March 27th, 2007

(plus I’ve got new information)

In case you were wondering why I’ve not been chatty, I’ve been drowning in boxes — all for YOU!!!!

Ok, to answer a few questions:

1. There is ONE formal night on the sailing. Please do not bring/wear a ball gown, unless you really want to. I will be found in a dinner suit of some type and that’s about as dressy as needed. All dinners have a basic dress code: No jeans, no swimsuits, and no shorts. Formal night asks that you dress up a little.

2. Transportation from the airport to the pier. If you are flying in on the 29th and have purchased a transfer from the airport to the pier, you should find the voucher in your documents. Some of these transfers just went in last week and may not appear in your documents, but your name is on the list.

3. Passports. I’ve gotten a few calls about passports. I know I said, “Get one!” but if you are taking a train, bus or car back across the border from Vancouver to Washington State, you can travel with just a certified copy of your birth certificate. This is the one from the state with a raised seal (not one from a hospital — don’t ask, but I get that question all the time). It will be faster if you have a passport, but if you must, you will be allowed to board the ship with your birth certificate. And you will need a photo ID. (Please note this is for the US Citzens amoung us, if you not a US Citizen the rules are different for you and you will need to follow those rules.)

Ok, on to the next piece of news…..

I HAVE your documents!! Yes, in my little hands. I will be sending them out over the course of this week via Priority Mail. There will be lots of things in the documents to read and review including the schedule of events (Because I know everyone wants to know) and a packing/materials list. While this will be in the letter with your documents, I want to remind you right now:
CHECK THE SPELLING OF YOUR NAME ON THE DOCUMENTS. Your receipts and documents come from two systems and they MUST match your identification. Call me ASAP if something is amiss.

So, now I’m working on my own packing!!

Not that I’m looking forward to this or anything, but I’ve already started my packing list.

Any chance you could provide a little assistance in that area for fellow cruise-virgins?

I don’t mean pack for us (though you’re welcome to come over and do that, if you wish) but little tips like what will be available on board and what we should bring?

Such as: is there a pharmacy, or should we be ready with possible OTC meds? will we need towels? shampoo? should we be prepared to tip housekeeping/waiters? will we need cash or credit for any onboard purchases?
